Back to 2011 Updates

December 21, 2010 - Pass the Christmas bota bag and call me Bernie!  It's the most wonderful time of the year (well, of course it is!  Don't be ridiculous!)  And we're here to help you celebrate the season with some fun new updates, starting with a photo of the boochies we've donated this year to charity via our Boochies for Babies drive!  We also have our regular updates, which include a new Photo of the Week, a new factoid on our Tell Me Something I Don't Know page and updated listings on our What's On Television? page.  We have also added an article about celebrity commercial endorsements from a 1991 edition of the Hollywood Reporter to our Articles section (while Bronson is only mentioned briefly in the article there is a photo of him included and it's an interesting piece in general!)  We are continuing with Bronson's 1987 appearance on Saturday Night Live on our Video page with a sketch in which he plays Serge acting as a houseboy for Babette.  And we have added a 1995 report from KABC News in Los Angeles about the Stephen King movie The Langoliers to our YouTube Channel.  Finally, the episode we will be discussing this week in our Forum's Weekly Episode Discussion board will be, quite appropriately, the season four Christmas episode The Gift of the Mypiot!  This will be our last update of the year, as we will be taking the following week off, but we will return on January 4th with all new updates!  Let us just take this opportunity to wish each and every one of our Cousins a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!  You have all made this website a lot of fun to create and I'm so happy to have such a wonderful family of Cousins out there who really show that kindness and compassion still exist and we should all continue to strive to be more like Balki and encompass the spirit of giving all year 'round!

December 14, 2010 - Are you luring your Christmas turtles into the living room with lettuce and placing your radishes on roasting sticks yet?  Because it's almost the birthday of Baby Jesus and hopefully you won't get caught in a blizzard and not make it back home to be the Christmas Boy (or Girl!)  To keep you in the Christmas spirit, as we strive to do all year long, we bring you another week of fun updates!  And what better way to get into the Christmas spirit than partaking in our annual Boochies for Babies charity drive?  It couldn't be easier!  Just pick up a stuffed sheep from your favorite store and drop it off in a Toys for Tots bin or donate it to any charity which accepts unwrapped new toys for children!  And be sure to send us a photo of the boochies you purchase so we can share them on our website!  Now, on with the updates!  First, we have added a new Photo of the Week, a new tidbit of information to the Tell Me Something I Don't Know page and have updated the listings on our What's On Television? page.  And now, thanks to Cousin nightime59's diligent transcribing she has provided us with translations of the first three French articles we posted about Bronson (the first and second) and Mark!  On behalf of all the Cousins, thanks nightime for taking on this arduous task!  To further get you into the Christmas spirit, don't forget to use our animated Christmas icons on all your favorite websites (you may directly hotlink the icons from our website to our own Forum, but for all other applications please copy the icons to your computer and upload them to other sites!  Thanks, Cousins!)  We continue with Bronson's appearance on Saturday Night Live on our Video page with the very funny sketch entitled Amerida.  And we have added a segment of TGIF Trivia to our YouTube Channel featuring Melanie Wilson doing the intros for a memorable episode of Family Matters!  And finally, the episode we will be discussing this week on our Forum's Weekly Episode Discussion board will be the season seven episode Stress Test.  Better brush up on your songs about the States!

December 7, 2010 - As winter approaches and we start to anticipate the arrival of snow (granted, maybe not always with as much enthusiasm as Balki,) allow us to to warm the cocktails of your heart with some new updates!  First head over to the News page to find out all about the Christmas Contest being held over at Bronson Pinchot Online!  It should be a lot of fun and there's a terrific prize to be had, so don't miss out!  As usual, we have added a new Photo of the Week, a new factoid to the Tell Me Something I Don't Know page and updated listings on our What's On Television? page.  We have also added yet another vintage French article about Bronson Pinchot to our Articles section.  And we have added new script variations to the episode outline for All the News That Fits, which you can now enjoy.  Our Video this week is the start of a series brought in answer to a special request on the Forums . . . it's Bronson's 1987 appearance on Saturday Night Live, starting with his monologue!  Watch for more of his sketches in the coming weeks!  And we have added the second segment of the Sara episode Helen Steps Out to our YouTube Channel.  There have been some really fun voting games going on over at our Forum lately, so if you haven't signed up yet then consider doing so and join in on the fun!  And while you're there, you can partake in this week's Episode Discussion which will be about the season three episode The Defiant Guys.  Now . . . how about that warm cocktail?

November 30, 2010 - Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, Cousins, and that whatever is in your head didn't set off any metal detectors!  We have some important information about the Warner Bros. Christmas DVD release . . . the Perfect Strangers episode included in this set is NOT the unedited version!  You can read more about this on our News page in case this is important to you in purchasing this set (which it certainly should be!)  And while we're talking Christmas, it's that time of the year to remind everyone of our Boochies for Babies drive!  This year, more than ever, we'd like to encourage fans to purchase a toy sheep for the less fortunate.  Every child should have their very own boochi!  This week we're bringing you another slew of updates, including a new Photo of the Week, a new tidbit of information you'll find on our Tell Me Something I Don't Know page and completely updated listings on our What's On Television? page.  We have also added a French article about Mark to our Articles section this week!  And Cousin Justice has sent us another one of her fabulous trace drawings, this time of Mark, for her Cousins Gallery Page!  Thank you, Cousin, we love your artwork!  Our Video this week is a short clip from an interview with Brian Boitano back when he won Olympic gold and people were constantly noting the resemblance between him and Balki, leading to what would have been an interesting guest appearance by Brian on PS if it had come to pass!  And we have added the first set of scenes from the Geena Davis series Sara episode entitled Helen Steps Out featuring Bronson Pinchot to our YouTube Channel.  And the episode we will be discussing this week on our Forum's Weekly Episode Discussion board will be the season one gem Baby, You Can Drive My Car.  Grapefruit is the brake!  Who doesn't know that?!

November 23, 2010 - Happy Thanksgiving, Cousins!  While you're busy scanning your live turkeys with metal detectors for swallowed wedding rings, might we suggest you take a few moments of "me" time and gobble up this week's updates (Where do we come up with them?)  We have added a new Photo of the Week, a new factoid to our  Tell Me Something I Don't Know page and we've also updated the listings on our What's On Television? page.  We have also added an interesting French article about Bronson from around the time of Perfect Strangers (and maybe at some point one of our more bilingual Cousins might want to take a crack at translating it for us!)  We have also added information to our News page about the release of a special Warner Bros. Christmas compilation DVD which includes the fourth season PS episode The Gift of the Mypiot, so you won't want to miss that!  And Cousin Justice has sent in a really lovely tracing / drawing she did of Bronson which is now included on her Cousins Gallery Page!  Wonderful job, Cousin!  Our Video this week is one you won't want to miss!  It's a very funny segment of an In Living Color sketch called "Men On Television" in which the reviewers turn their attention to TV instead of movies and give our favorite show a very memorable spin!  And we have added Bronson's other appearance on the People's Choice Awards, this time from 1990 where he co-presents with Sally Kellerman, to our YouTube Channel.  And, of course, how could we not pick the most obvious choice of episodes to talk about this week on our Forum's Weekly Episode Discussion board?  So of course, it will be the season seven Thanksgiving themed episode Wild Turkey.  Well, baste my body and call me Tom!  (Or is that getting too personal?)

November 16, 2010 - Well, strap me to a car and call me Bastille!  After Bronson's exciting appearance on Hawaii Five-0 last week the Forums have been hopping, so if you haven't signed up there yet, Cousins, what are you saving it for?  The discussions range over a wide area of topics and everyone is super nice!  Put on your vests, drink the pig snout Kool-Aid and come join us!  In the meantime, we have some fun updates for you this week, including our regular weekly additions of a new Photo of the Week, a new tidbit of information on the Tell Me Something I Don't Know page and fully updated listings on our What's On Television? page.  We have also added an interesting year-end review article from the Sacramento Bee for 1986 in which Perfect Strangers is given a nice nod!  And our Cousins have not only been busy on the Forums, they've been busy creatively as well!  You may remember Cousin Coastiegirl's wonderful poem The Tale of Balki and Larry we posted a couple of weeks back?  Well, Cousin Crystal has set it to music to create The Ballad of Balki and Larry, and with Cousin Coastiegirl's blessing we have now posted it to both pages for you to enjoy!  Cousin Crystal also sent us a really adorable drawing she did of Balki in the classic Disney style, which you can view on her other Cousins Gallery page!  And Cousin Amy has sent us her new drawings of Cousin Larry and Mary Anne, which we have added to her Cousins Gallery page as well.  Too cute!!!  We also have a very special early holiday treat from Cousin C.J. who sent in a really lovely Christmas-themed Wallpaper for everyone to enjoy!  Thank you so much, Cousin C.J.!  Our Video this week is a very strange skit from Saturday Night Live in which Mike Meyers plays Mark Linn-Baker in a television game show spoof (don't worry, Cousins, we will be re-posting Bronson's SNL appearances in the near future as well!)  And we have added Bronson's appearance as a presenter on the 1987 People's Choice Awards to our YouTube Channel as well.  And finally, the episode we will be discussing this week on our Forum's Weekly Episode Discussion board will be the season seven two episode Can I Get a Witness?  Yes, it's the first appearance of Vince!  Oh po po!

November 9, 2010 - Tonight we were treated to a guest appearance by Bronson Pinchot on Hawaii Five-0.  It turned out to be a very good guest turn and so keep checking the link to the CBS page we currently have on our News page and they should be posting the entire episode in the near future!  In the meantime, we have our usual updates for you, including a new Photo of the Week, a new factoid for our Tell Me Something I Don't Know page and all updated listings on our What's On Television? page.  We have also added a 1988 article about the show from an unknown publication to our Articles section.  And we've added Issue #16 of the original P.S. I Love You! newsletter to our Newsletters section!  Cousin Amy has send us a couple of really adorable drawings she did of Balki and Jennifer, which you can find on her brand new Cousins Gallery Page!  Thank you, Cousin Amy!  And Cousin Justice has colored in two of her wonderful sketches, making them even more wonderful (which we didn't think was possible!) and you can view those on her Cousins Gallery Page.  Our Video this week is of a quick joke about the show which appeared on The Simpsons some time back.  And we've added an appearance by Jo Marie Payton-France and Reginald Veljohnson (promoting Family Matters but we still think of them as PS cast members, too) putting together some food on the Home show to our YouTube Channel.  And the episode we will be discussing this week on our Forum's Weekly Episode Discussion board will be the season seven episode Going Once, Going Twice.  See you next week, Cousins!

November 2, 2010 - Well, book my crook and call me Danno!  We are very excited to have learned that Bronson will be guest starring on an upcoming episode of Hawaii Five-0 on November 8th, and you can find links to press photos on our News page!  Be sure to set you DVRs for that one, Cousins!  We also have our regular updates, including a new Photo of the Week, a new tidbit of information on our Tell Me Something I Don't Know page and all updated listings on our What's On Television? page.  We are also bringing you an interesting article about Bronson from a 1986 issue of USA Today to our Articles section.  And we're very pleased to present an absolutely wonderful poem by our very own Cousin Coastiegirl entitled The Tale of Balki and Larry which we know you're gonna love, and you can find that on her Fan Fiction page!  Our Video this week is a very energetic commercial which Bronson did for Target department stores some time in the 1990's.  And speaking of an energetic Bronson, we have a very funny interview Bronson did on Regis and Kathie Lee in 1997 which we've posted to our YouTube Channel.  You're not going to want to miss this one!  And finally, the episode we will be discussing this week on our Forum's Weekly Episode Discussion board will be the season two episode Up On a Roof.  "I'm sorry I got that right!"

October 26, 2010 - Well, carve my pumpkin and call me Jack!  We're back from our vacation and ready to bring you a week of spook-tacular updates for your Halloween pleasure, Cousins!  This week we have our usual updates, including a brand new Photo of the Week, a new factoid on our Tell Me Something I Don't Know page and updated listings on our What's On Television? page.  Also we have found a news report about Sam Anderson's visit to UND this past week, and you can view that on our News page.  We have also added a 1984 review of the play "The Miss Firecracker Contest" (which co-starred both Belita Moreno and Mark Linn-Baker) from The New York Times to our Articles section.  And we have the conclusion of the Sara episode, Helen Steps Out, on our Video page so you can see how that all came out.  Plus we've added yet another scene from Sara, this one from the episode You Can't Win 'em All, to our YouTube Channel.  And to get you in the Halloween mood and prepared to deal with all that garish orange and black all week, the episode we will be discussing this week on our Forum's Weekly Episode Discussion board will be the fourth season Halloween episode Aliens.  Who wants pig snout???

October 5, 2010 - Well, silence my tongue and put me on Chuck (for five seconds!)  Fans are still trying to get over Bronson's miniscule cameo appearance in that series.  It seems many fans of the series speculate that he had longer scenes which were cut for whatever reason . . . we will try to get to the bottom of this for you, Cousins!  In the meantime, we have our usual batch of updates for you this week, including a brand new Photo of the Week, a new factoid on our Tell Me Something I Don't Know page and updated listings on our What's On Television? page.  We've also added a Washington Post article about the American Playhouse episode "The Ghost Writer" which Mark appeared on in 1984.  And check out the News page for information about a new book written by David Pomeranz' father, Mel Pomeranz, about touring Manila with his son!  And we continue with scenes from the Sara episode Helen Steps Out on our Video page, when the gang finally get to the wine symposium!  And we have the last segment of Bronson's interesting appearance on Northwest Afternoon from around 1990 which we've added to our YouTube Channel!  And finally the episode we will be discussing this week on our Forum's Weekly Episode Discussion board will be the season five episode Almost Live from Chicago.  We will see you again next week, Cousins!

September 28, 2010 - Wwoww!  We;ve had some very exciting things happen in our fandom recently, haven't we?  Most recently we had Bronson's guest appearance on Chuck (see below for update on this!) and tonight Sam Anderson will be on NCIS!  But this week we've had a lot of activity from the fan side of things, and so let us first direct your attention to our Cousins Gallery pages where you'll find some new and amazing things!  First, Cousin Crystal sent us an adorable drawing of Balki with Gilligan for her Cousins Gallery Page.  Too cute!  And then Cousin Justice sent us some photos of her absolutely incredible Balki and Larry dolls which she created herself for her Cousins Gallery page (don't we all wish we could have dolls like the ones Cousin Justice and Cousin Crystal have made??  Maybe they should join forces and mass-produce them for us!)  And finally we received a very heartwarming story from Cousin Susan, who shared with us the memories of her late son and how Bronson Pinchot and the production office from Perfect Strangers helped to make her son's last days more pleasant, which she has graciously allowed us to share on her Cousins Gallery Page.  I think you'll be moved by her story!  We also have our usual updates, including a brand new Photo of the Week, a new tidbit of information on our Tell Me Something I Don't Know page and updated listings on our What's On Television? page.  We have also added an interesting 1981 article from The New York Times about Richard Benjamin's role as director on the movie My Favorite Year.  And we continue with scenes from the Sara episode Helen Steps Out on our Video page, which really features Bronson at his best in his role of Dennis!  And we have now posted part two of Bronson's interview on Northwest Afternoon to our YouTube Channel!  If you haven't checked out our new Facebook Group, then I encourage you to have a look and consider joining, because we are posting lots more information there every day which you won't want to miss out on!  And finally the episode we will be discussing this week on our Forum's Weekly Episode Discussion board will be the season four episode That Old Gang of Mine.  Thank you to everyone for being such an active part of this site!  We couldn't do it without all of you!  Last minute addition: Bronson's appearance on Chuck turned out to be nothing more than a five-second cameo in which Bronson didn't even speak!  While it was certainly funny, it wasn't the guest appearance we had hoped for!  But we have added an amendment to our News page, since it really didn't warrant an entire new story.  Sorry about, that, Cousins!  We thought it was going to be a longer guest shot, too!

September 21, 2010 - Oh po po, we have so much news for your this week, Cousins, so let's get started!  First of all, we have to direct you to our News page where we have posted a write-up about Bronson's appearance on the new Biography Channel series Celebrity Nightmares Decoded!  We also have reports about two upcoming appearances on television by PS stars, and you can read about those as well!  We are also very pleased to announce the creation of our Perfect Strangers Online Facebook Group!  This will give all our Cousins a new avenue by which we can communicate and share our love of our favorite show, so sign up today!  In addition to all this, we also have our regular updates, including a brand new Photo of the Week, a new factioid on our Tell Me Something I Don't Know page and all-new updated listings on our What's On Television? page.  We have also added a brief but interesting article from a 1981 edition of The New York Times to our Articles section which explains how part of Broadway was shut down to film the iconic opening of Mark's classic movie My Favorite Year.  Cousin Justice also sent us a really wonderful drawing of Balki and Dimitri for their Cousins Gallery Page, which we know you'll enjoy!  And we're starting a whole new series of clips on our Video page featuring Bronson in an episode of Sara, the series he appeared in before Perfect Strangers, and the episode Helen Steps Out.  And we're very excited to bring you the first part of a brand new (well, to us!) interview with Bronson from a local Seattle talk show entitled Northwest Afternoon circa 1990 in which Bronson shares many stories we've never heard before on our YouTube Channel!  You are definitely going to want to check that one out, Cousins!  And finally the episode we will be discussing this week on our Forum's Weekly Episode Discussion board will be the hilarious season three episode Future Shock!  We'll see you again next week, Cousins, with a write-up about Bronson's appearance on Chuck!  Get out of the city!

January 19, 2010 - Boochi, boochi, bochi, Cousins!  Welcome once again to another week of updates!  This week we have something really fun to share with you.  If you haven't yet seen the new Perfect Strangers Seattle theme song done by The Baggy Pants, you don't know what you're missing!  It's undoubtedly the most accurate adaptation of our favorite opening yet!  And we have an exclusive interview with the creators of this fabulous tribute, which you can find on our News page (as well as links to the video and the side-by-side comparison video!)  We have also updated the listings on the What's On Television? page, but we have heard that Mark Linn-Baker may have been one of the guest judges on the new season of American Idol during the auditions process.  We haven't been able to confirm this or which episode he has either been on or will be on, but you might want to check out the audition shows for the foreseeable future just in case!  We'll update with any further information here and on our Forums.  We have added a new Photo of the Week as well as a new bit of information to the Tell Me Something I Don't Know page.  Cousin Crystal continues to entertain and inspire us with her fabulous artwork, this week sharing with us her manga versions of Balki and Larry, which are just too adorable for words.  You can find them on her Cousins Gallery Page.  We have added a small 1985 article about Bronson Pinchot from Vanity Fair to our Articles section.  For our Video this week we have a short interview with Bronson commenting on The Trouble with Larry on CNN Showbiz Today from 1993.  And we have added part two of the interview Bronson did on Tom Snyder's show to promote The Trouble with Larry in 1993 to our YouTube Channel.  Our Topic of the Week on our Forum this time around will be: "If we could interview one person from Perfect Strangers for this website, whom should it be and why?"  And finally the episode we will be discussing this week on our Forum's Weekly Episode Discussion Board is the third season episode Couch Potato!  Thanks for your continued support, Cousins, and if you have any feedback, good or bad, about the site, don't hesitate to drop us an e-mail!  We love hearing from you!

January 12, 2010 - Is it time once again for more updates, Cousins?  That's a good question, a very good question.  And the answer is, "Yes!  Yes, it is!"  This week we're bringing you a brand new Photo of the Week, as new tidbit of information on the Tell Me Something I Don't Know page, and updated listings on the What's On Television? page.  We have also added a really wonderful Perfect L'il Strangers comic strip to Cousin Crystal's Cousins Gallery page which you will definitely want to see.  And we've added a short article from a 1986 issue of TV Guide in which Bronson talks about the inspiration for Balki's name to our Articles section.  For our Video this week we have more of Bronson talking about The Trouble with Larry from E! Entertainment's Fall Television Preview show in 1993.  And we have added part one of a very interesting interview Bronson did on Tom Snyder's show to promote The Trouble with Larry to our YouTube Channel.  It was a call-in show, and you know how those usually go for Bronson!  And this time is no exception!  Watch for parts two and three to be posted in the coming weeks!  Our Forum's Topic of the Week will be this: "How many people do you think you've introduced to Perfect Strangers over the years?"  This can include people who only watched it once or twice but had never seen it before!  I suspect the answers could be very interesting!  And finally, the episode we will be discussing this week on our Forum's Weekly Episode Discussion Board will be the third season episode My Brother, Myself.  See you on the Forums, Cousins, and see you here again next week!

January 5, 2010 - Well, change my diaper and call me the New Year!  Welcome to 2010, Cousins!  Does it seem possible that another whole year has flown by already?  This week we're bringing a new batch of updates, including a new Photo of the Week, updated listings on the What's On Television? page (thanks to Cousin Pavan for providing the Game Show Network dates and times!) and a new factoid on the Tell Me Something I Don't Know page.  We have also added one of Perfect Strangers many local TV Guide cover stories to our Articles section from a 1986 edition of the Los Angeles Herald Examiner.  And the multi-talented Cousin Crystal has sent us her vision of what would happen if Balki ever met Worf from Star Trek: The Next Generation, which you can view on her Cousins Gallery page.  We have also added Issue #10 of the original P.S. I Love You! fanzine to our Newsletters section.  And for our Video this week we have a very short clip of Bronson talking about ratings before the premiere of The Trouble with Larry from E! Entertainment's Fall Television Preview show in 1993.  And continuing with Bronson's promotion for that series, we have added an interview Bronson gave CBS This Morning that same year to our YouTube Channel.  Once you've finished perusing all of the above, why not swing on over to our Forum and answer our Topic of the Week: "What are some of your Perfect Strangers' New Years Resolutions?"  You can make these as silly as you want, like "I resolve to bulk up on spleen well before the cold season in the coming year!"  And finally we will be discussing the episode A Horse is a Horse this week on our Forum's Weekly Episode Discussion Board.  See you there!
